In the last part of my story I mentioned how he talked about what off page seo is and how that worked. He also talked about something called off page seo too. It turned out though that it’s not just any old sort of link that Google is looking for. They apparently look at the how relevant the link is to your own website and look for something else called anchor text. I was a bit confused about the anchor text so I went and looked up on Google after the meeting. It turns out that anchor text is some sort of HTML code that leads to your website.

Say for example that you wanted your website to rank well for the word “swordfish” you would use this HTML code to create a link that looks like the word “swordfish” but that actually leads straight to your website. I’m still a bit hazy on the whole thing but now understand why I need good back links.
