Mick Boogie Mixtape Cds

July 18th, 2010 by admin

Mixtape DJs have become superstars in the hip hop community. As a result of this trend, DJs such as Funkmaster Flex, DJ Kay Slay and DJ Clue have attained high status in the world of hip hop music. Mixtape DJs take previously released and unreleased samples and music and create mixes with rappers, commonly referred to as MCs, rapping in sync with the beats. DJ Mick Boogie, a mixtape DJ in the Cleveland area, has become increasingly popular in the hip hop community as a result of his enormous popularity on mixtape web sites, including tapekingz.com and mixtapesusa.com. His work is commonly featured with Green Lantern, DJ Clue and other popular DJs. His skill and popularity landed him a spot on Cornerstone Mixtape, which is nationally distributed. Being featured on Cornerstone Mixtape is perceived to be a great accomplishment in the hip hop DJ community. Mixtape CD creators have not become victims of the recent rise in music piracy prosecution. Record labels have even signed creators of blend mixtapes, r&b mixtapes and other mixtape cds to record deals. DJ Mick Boogie has been creating mixes for about two and a half years. He’s been averaging new a mixtape CD releases every month this year, with his mixtape CDs having popularity on a national scale. Unlike many DJs, who typically begin mixing at a very young age, Mick Boogie did not even have decks until after completing high school. While pursing an undergraduate degree at John Carroll University, he had a college radio show, entitled “The Butters”, that promoted underground talent. This show eventually had a national audience and won the 2000 Gavin Award for best hip hop show. DJ Mick Boogie used his college radio show to propel him to more prestigious gigs. During his junior year of college, WENZ FM/107.9, a Radio One Cleveland affiliate radio station, gave him a regular time slot. He currently has a 30 minute show on WENZ every weeknight at 9pm, a show on Power 107 and spins at clubs in the greater Cleveland area and beyond on a nightly basis. Mick Boogie, a current MBA student, sees marketing mixtape CDs as a challenge from both an artistic and business perspective. His blend mixtapes, such as “The Game Plan” and “Rock the Mic Tour”, incorporate tracks from Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent. Record companies continued promotion of RB mixtapes and other styles of mixtapes is giving DJs a lot of respect in the music business. Mick Boogie may soon rise to the top of the music industry.
