Jazz Guitar Lessons: The Fundamentals Of Online Courses

Even if you consider yourself to be a good guitarist, if you have never received formal training, registering for basic jazz guitar lessons is highly recommended. At the very least a jazz guitar player must understand chords and keys and how they work together.

A strong knowledge of tempo is also essential, as well as harmonics, as these are widely used in this style of music. From these basics you can then learn what is called the circle of fifths which is the heart of the twelve pitch classes in the chromatic scale. You may find that finger styles are slightly different, but when learning jazz you may also find you have the ability to expand your genre and play styles you thought were out of reach in the past.

With online courses you may pay a monthly membership fee, or a one time fee for instant access to the materials. Instant access is nice, as you can log on any time day or night. A good site will allow you to choose your instructor, and it will not be limited to just jazz music.

These courses also offer chord diagrams, and recorded tracks you can practice along with to get the feel of real time playing with a band.

DVD

Jazz guitar lessons on DVD format also have their advantages. You are restricted to your computer screen. You can hook up your lessons to your big screen television if you have one.This format also has choices from beginner through intermediate and onwards.

The format of learning is personal choice and preference, but the possibilities are virtually endless. Once you get going the sky is the limit!
